President Bush said in his 2002 State of the Union speech:  "Because the AIDS diagnosis is considered a death sentence, many do not seek treatment.  Almost all who do are turned away.  A doctor in rural South Africa describes his frustration.  He says, We have no medicines, many hospital tell people, 'You got AIDS.  We can't help you.  Go home and die'."

Children orphaned by AIDS without education and resources become  the next victims.  Help by helping those organizations  that are being effective in various ways.

Blood:Water Mission

Welcome

The Blood:Water Mission is a non-profit organization founded by the members of the multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning band, Jars of Clay, to address the HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa. Blood:Water Mission exists to promote clean blood and clean water efforts in Africa, tangibly reducing the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic while addressing the underlying issues of poverty, injustice and oppression. Blood:Water is building clean water wells, supporting medical facilities, and focusing on community and worldview transformation, both here in America and in Africa. We recognize that numbers and statistics are hard to grasp, and that sometimes a step back is necessary to conceptualize the enormity of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Yet we also know that simply standing from a distance with arms thrown in the air is not a solution. We believe in pressing inward, in building relationships and bridges with communities in Africa. We believe in hearing personal stories and walking alongside brothers and sisters who have demonstrated strength and faith in the midst of desperate and tragic situations. We hold fast to the conviction that we are all responsible for being good stewards of our time, our resources and our compassion in a broken world. Every person has something to give in return for what has been received. Please join us on this journey.

* African Leadership - A Christian education and development organization that trains local pastors and funds development projects in those same communities.  Medical Mobilizers has a working partnership with this organization seeking to work together on addressing the AIDS pandemic.  We expect to help mobilize medical professionals for church based medical clinics (like the Livinghope Community Centre)  sponsored by African Leadership.

* Livinghope Community Centre, near Cape Town, South Africa
Started in 1999, the Living Hope Project aimed to develop the community in the Fish Hoek/Kommetjie/Noordhoek valley and assist the community as they faced the effects of the rapidly growing HIV/AIDS pandemic. The project was founded on faith and biblical-based principles and would filter through all the sectors of the community. Our vision is to see the Lord at work in the hearts and lives of the people of the valley as they hear the gospel message, respond and come to know Jesus as their personal saviour. We also want to see communities changed and taking responsibility for their own spiritual, physical and emotional health.

Samaritan's Purse (Samaritan Children's Fund) - Our support to Samaritan's Purse will support a variety of children's homes in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America where orphaned and abandoned children receive loving care and learn of Jesus Christ.  Your use of WHCC services and thus our support to Samaritan's Purse will help provide children with meals, lodging, healthcare and education which can and does change a life for eternity.

* World Orphans  - working in 23 countries with over 100 church-based homes for orphans. Mission is "To rescue orphaned and abandoned children by funding the necessary shelter required for local churches to meet the spiritual, physical, social, educational and economic needs of these children".

WORLD RELIEF - Using a multi-faceted approach, World Relief and churches are confronting the myriad of social problems associated with the AIDS epidemic. Churches are curbing the spread of the disease through education, assisting families affected by HIV/AIDS and caring for the sick, widows and orphans.

AIDS MinistriesOur Mobilizing for Life program equips churches and trains local believers to reach out with compassion to their hurting neighbors -- demonstrating Christ's love. Our holistic ministries meet people's physical, emotional and spiritual needs -- restoring dignity, a sense of self-worth and hope.

World Relief is working through the churches to provide employment opportunities and counseling for AIDS sufferers as well as training families to care for sick relatives at home. Churches are also educating people about the dangers of promiscuity and the spread of the virus -- teaching God's design of a faithful monogamous relationship within marriage.

Through the compassion of the Church, AIDS sufferers are seeing the love of Christ in action -- and many are receiving the hope of eternal life as they come to Jesus.

World Vision - Founded in 1950, World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization serving the world's poorest children and families in nearly 100 countries. World Vision, driven by faith, is your partner in enabling the world's children to realize their God-given potential by tackling the root causes of poverty.
